The business of broadcasting is rapidly changing with the number of media sources growing daily. The major network broadcasters must change to survive, and small broadcasters must adapt to overcome changes as well. While experiencing shrinking revenues, many broadcasters are reducing their permanent workforce, choosing to replace shrinking staffs with temporary workers or freelancers. Those affected by such reductions need to search long and hard to locate similar positions. Some of the best in the business now find themselves without permanent work. In other cases, permanent workers find that their level of income fails to keep pace with salaries in other fields.
